In Balochistan, we offered reproductive, neonatal, and pediatric care at three locations, serving both local communities and Afghan refugees. Our activities included emergency obstetric services, nutrition programs, and patient referrals.
Our cutaneous leishmaniasis program saw a significant increase in patient numbers across all five of our clinics in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in 2023. In addition to providing diagnosis, care, and mental health support, we are conducting clinical research to find better treatment options.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we conducted general health care consultations in Tirah Valley, Khyber district, for both locals and resettled individuals.
In Karachi, Sindh, our one-year intervention at the Baldia rural health center ended in July. The aim of the intervention was to introduce a model of care for hepatitis C that could be implemented at the general health care level. The health center has since been designated as a “sentinel site” for hepatitis C. Meanwhile, we strengthened our screening efforts for the disease in Machar Colony and continued to provide diagnosis and treatment to the predominantly undocumented residents through our clinic there.
In Gujranwala, Punjab, our focus was on providing diagnosis and treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis. In 2023, we began implementing shorter treatment regimens and enhanced our patient-centered approach by establishing support groups and conducting home visits and follow-up consultations.
